Biography

Christian Sleep
I first got into music when I was about 12 years old, two people inspired me one being my dad who used to play the organ and the other was a friend of mine Alex Christaki who played Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven in a school assembly. I just new I wanted to touch people through music. I started off messing around on my dads organ (oooh-er) and eventually got a small home keyboard with mini keys, I had a few piano lessons with Alex but had already got into two many bad habits and had my own playing style, which didn’t really go with my bad fingering habits.

To cut a long story short I started to play guitar when I was 18 and joined a couple of bands playing keyboard. Which were Return of The Rose and a band called Risk we did the circuit for a while.

Later in 1992 I joined a band with Mercedes drummer Dave Hacker who I would say had a major influence on me in music and my personal life (one of the few people who can get me into full on belly laughter). He was involved with Bruce Welch from shadows fame and also a top producer in his day. We came close to being signed by Gary Stamler (crowded house’s manager at the time) but to no avail. As I had been working with digital information spending 14 hour days in a room programming and arranging I decided I wanted to get as far away as possible from digital so swapped some equipment for an acoustic guitar and started writing and busking. Busking was fun and gave me a little extra money.

Vicious Circle
My first album recorded at the cooperage studios, was a success I recorded in August 1999 and sold enough to make a profit.

The Moment Of Clarity
My new album, by the time I finish this I would have spent 10,000 pounds on recording mixing and mastering, so this will take a while to recoup my money. It is an album that puts a few songs I have had floating around for a few years and some new ones and some revamped off of Vicious Circle. There are songs about the usual kind of thing Love and Loss and even one about a murder of a friend of mine. Lets hope it does well, My new partner is expecting a baby in early August so I’m trying desperately to get the cd out before this time. It will be called The Moment Of Clarity and features some of the top local musicians and friends namely Jimi Galvin a great friend and musician on bass who has also been a great help for very little money. Vince Lee on guitar on Leave it all Behind, Pete Nichols, Stuart Wyatt on violin (fantastic emotional player). Dennis and Paul Harris, Kevin Sanders on upright bass on Time to let go. My warmest heart felt thanks to everyone who has appeared on the album.
